Critical platforms need to do more than just "work" - they need to work under pressure, at scale, and around the clock. In this session, we'll share the story of how we partnered with a major client to design, scale, and evolve a complex enterprise system - launched during COVID and now supporting 3,000+ users operating 24/7/365.
What began as a departmental platform for around 600 users during standard business hours has become a business-critical system used across multiple functions. This evolution offers a real-world perspective on what it takes to build resilient software for continuous operation - and the engineering, delivery, and team dynamics behind it.
Drawing on our experience as a long-term, embedded delivery partner, we’ll explore how an augmented team model has enabled sustained delivery, innovation, and continuity in a high-stakes environment. From architectural decisions to agile principles, this session will share learning from a case study in enterprise-grade software delivery.
What this session will cover:
- How delivery was adapted under COVID conditions without compromising stability
- The engineering decisions that enabled scale, resilience, and business-aligned integrations
- The role of agile principles in managing a long-term, evolving roll out
- What makes an augmented delivery model succeed in enterprise environments
- Lessons learned in scaling from departmental use, to full enterprise adoption
Speakers:
Dan Cage - Head of Technology, Solus
Rhys Smith - Principal Software Engineer and Delivery Lead, Audacia
Mark Dyer - Head of TechOps and Infrastructure, Audacia
